Internet Advertising up by 17 per cent as Online Sales continue to rise whilst retail insolvencies rise by 102%

Internet Advertising and Online Sales continue to grow whilst retail insolvencies rise by 102%

As all other advertising declined in 2008, the Internet was the only medium that saw advertising growth with the total spend rising 17% to £3.3bn, 19.2% of the overall advertising, as advertisers sought more cost effective and measurable forms of advertising and a greater return on their marketing investment. See IAB Advertising Report 2008.

Amidst the general gloom accountants Deloitte report retail administrations up by 102% in the first quarter as both large and small firms suffer from the decline in consumer confidence, competitive environment and flight to the internet, see Deloitte News Report on Retail Insolvencies in the first quarter

Meanwhile, more cheering news comes from consultants Cap Gemini who report online sales up by 19% compared to March 2009 and month on month sales increasing by 9%, as consumers seek better value using the internet. See Shoppers head online in bid to fight the crunch
