After having stripped out the Adult/Pornography related keyword phrases from this list, which, to be fair, account for a large proportion of the top searches and emphasises Freudian theory in internet use, the list of top searches reveals the reliance people place on their search engines. Given that the top phrase is 'Google', we can perhaps assume that an unfair weighting has been given to the other, non-Google, search engines, however when you consider the increasing use of search bars and Google results within browsers, this may be more accurate than first thought.
That nearly 88,000 people type "myspace.com" into a search engine underlines the importance of search engine visibility to any person or organisation. The list throws up some other fascinating stats, depending upon your viewpoint. It is also quite interesting to compare the longer term trends in search to the top 100 over the last 7 days, where seasonal search is far more prevalent; however the same old favourites still come up.
