Celebrating Neurodiversity in Digital Marketing
Celebrating and promoting diverse perspectives among employees is critical to enhancing clients' SEO strategies. Discover how we achieve this at Zelst.
Neurodiversity Taking Centre Stage
Reflecting on Rory Sutherland's keynote speech at BrightonSEO, I am so excited to see that we are finally discussing the importance of thinking differently! Marketing is an ever-changing industry where finding creative solutions to problems is crucial. To achieve this, employees need to possess a soft skill that is difficult to teach but highly sought after by employers: thinking outside the box.
Utalising Diverse Skill Sets in SEO
At Zelst, we have several departments working on different issues simultaneously, from building brand awareness through high-quality, long-form content to implementing video and social media strategies. This requires a team that can see the bigger picture and understands how each department's work contributes to the client's common goal. Both logical and creative thinking are required to coordinate all the different pieces of strategy into one cohesive plan. And what's even more exciting is that this plan is constantly changing! As we analyze the never-ending stream of data, the plan shifts and evolves into a much more complex strategy than what it was a month ago. By the time we near the end, everything looks different.
Collaborating and brainstorming with our team is why our office is a hothouse of ideas, as we have a blend of neurotypical and neurodiverse individuals. The multiple perspectives that we gain during our bi-weekly client review meetings allow us to provide our clients regularly with innovative strategies that not only meet their rational business incentives but also offer creative solutions to problems that could have gone unnoticed.
Why Collaboration Benefits Our Clients
As someone who is dyslexic, I know first-hand the unique talent it gives you for spotting trends and patterns. While spelling may not be my strong suit, I make up for it by being able to combine individual components to create complex and creative solutions. Having dyslexic individuals like myself on your team gives you a whole other set of special gifts like processing multiple problems at once, making us great problem-solvers!
I am so pleased to see the strong presence of neurodivergents in the SEO during the BrightonSEO conference. This topic is so often ignored, and it's great to see the industry acknowledging the unique strengths that these individuals possess. Our training program is designed to offer personalised support to every team member, ensuring they can utilise their distinct talents effectively without ever making them feel alone or at a disadvantage!
If you want to learn more about how we support our team members to be the best they can be, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are always here to help!
