We were approached back in November 2013 by a client in the Hair and Beauty Industry with a brief to improve their organic rankings and growth. Though they had a very user friendly site, the site was not visible in Google for any of their key brands or terms. They had employed a well-known digital agency from the North East to handle their PPC & SEO but had been unhappy with the results and costs incurred so they were understandably a little wary/nervous at first, however after meeting us and hearing of what we had done for other people they became a little more relaxed.

Their site was built on a bespoke platform and though they had had a lot of customisation, which allowed the platform to do what they wanted it to, there were also a lot of issues that were caused by it. In particular, although the site made good use of filters so customers could find exactly what they were looking for, they had no specific pages which Google could crawl looking for their key terms and send traffic to those pages.

In addition the site had many thousands of, essentially, duplicate pages and a lot of basic technical SEO issues. Working with their developer, we worked out a solution that did not compromise user experience, whilst giving Google strong product category pages, providing valuable content and user information and aided the navigation process.

We dramatically reduced the number of technical issues on the site, improved the user experience and built the site’s search visibility to achieve an annual average 30% increase in organic traffic and 35% increase in new users, more than doubling their sales.
